This was
the spring gathering of our ACBS membership and a
celebration of our beautiful wooden boats. The afternoon began
with a Spring Romp, meeting at the Wolfeboro public docks at 1
PM for a scenic cruise.
The weather gods were smiling on us that day, for after a week
of non-stop rain, we had an absolutely gorgeous day on and off
the water. Meeting at the Wolfeboro Town Docks, a handful of
antique and classic boats toured the southern part of Lake
Winnipesaukee. We have never seen such flat water on a Saturday
afternoon, and under sunny skies, the heat was welcomed after a
long, long winter. We had a great Spring Romp !!!
After
our Spring Romp, the social gathering at the home of Charley and
Ilona Train was a grand success. The feedback we received from
the participants told us everyone had a great time. In the words
of one participant, "The
food was great, the entire afternoon and evening were perfect.
We had a really nice time and the Train's place is just the
right setting for the event."
Thank you Charley and Ilona for being such special hosts.
A
special welcome to new member Bud Comstock who joined our
Chapter on Saturday. Bud hails from Amherst, New Hampshire and
docks his boat at Fay's Boatyard in Laconia. Bud owns a 1956, 20
foot, Greavette Deluxe Utility named Donna Lee. We look
forward to seeing her at our upcoming 36th Annual Antique &
Classic Boat Show at the Meredith town docks on July 25th.
Our annual Antique & Classic Boat Show at the
Meredith public docks is a huge gathering of beautiful antique and
classic wooden boats,
with large crowds and over
80 vintage wooden boats on display all day in a judged
competition. This is quite a sight to behold, and for a special
treat get to the docks early on Saturday morning to watch and
listen as the vintage boats arrive under their
own power - no trailer queens here. The sights and sounds are
magnificent, and to get an idea of the magnitude of this gathering
of wooden boats, please take a moment to view our photo album from
last year's ACBS Meredith Boat Show.
