Good morning Gang,
The summer monsoon rains have passed, and we are now
enjoying a very sunny
and much drier September here in
beautiful Wolfeboro. We had a busy summer
promoting, supporting and participating in local ACBS events
and APBA vintage
regattas. Lots of fun, and we have
also been busy updating our Websites with lots
of photos and recaps of all the
summer events - boat shows, regattas, and gatherings.

Lots of summer fun !!!
Spring Romp - June 13th
And
speaking of fun, we had a great time at our ACBS Spring Romp
& Gathering on
Jun 13th. The weather gods were
smiling on us that day, for after a week of non-stop
rain,
we had an absolutely gorgeous day on and off the
water. After our Spring Romp,
the
social gathering and catered dinner at the home of Charley
and Ilona Train was a
grand
success. Thank you Charley and Ilona. Here is the link for
lots of photos.

36th Annual Lake Winnipesaukee
Antique & Classic Boat Show
This
year's 36th Annual Lake Winnipesaukee Antique & Classic Boat
Show at the
Meredith public docks was a huge gathering of beautiful
antique and classic wooden
boats,
with large crowds and over 80 vintage wooden boats on
display all day in a
judged
competition. This was quite a sight to behold, and for a
special treat the crowds
arrived
early at the docks early on Saturday morning to watch and
listen as the vintage
boats
arrived under their own power. There was also a large static
display of vintage
race
boats. The sights and sounds were magnificent, and to get an
idea of the magnitude
of this
annual gathering of wooden boats, please take a moment to
view our photo album
from
this year's Lake Winnipesaukee Antique & Classic Boat Show.

Detroit APBA Gold Cup Unlimited
Hydroplane Regatta - July 10-12, 2009
We had
a great time again this year on our annual trek to the
Detroit APBA Gold Cup
unlimited hydroplane races. Many thanks to Tom Bertolini,
Joe Schulte and the entire
volunteer crew for another great Detroit vintage event. This
was our 10th trek to Detroit,
for we
have hauled a vintage race boat to every APBA Gold Cup since
1999. It took us
20
hours to get there with a trailer bearing failure, but we
made it, arriving at 4 AM
on
Friday. Here is the link for recap and photos:

Rideau Ferry - CBF National
Championship & APBA Vintage - August 14-16, 2009
The
Rideau Ferry Yacht Club invited our APBA vintage boats to
join them in celebrating
their
100th Anniversary this summer. Once again the R.F.Y.C.
hosted the traditional
race
boat regatta that has entertained spectators for
generations. Although the first
regattas at Rideau Ferry date back as far as 1897, the
Rideau Ferry Yacht Club was
officially formed as the regatta organizers in 1909. Over
the past 100 years the club
has
hosted some of the largest and exciting international race
boat regattas in Eastern
Canada.
In the mid 1970’s the club stopped hosting regattas at
Rideau Ferry due to
economic reasons, and sold their waterfront property to the
Rideau Valley Conservation
Authority for $1.00 to be maintained as a public boat
launch, beach and picnic area. When
Parks
Canada announced the 175th Anniversary of the Rideau Canal
in 2007, the timing
was
perfect for the Rideau Ferry Yacht Club to reintroduce the
Regatta back into the area
and
join in the Rideau Canal / Parks Canada celebrations.

Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat
Regatta - Sept 16-19th
The past will come alive as
some of the best known race boats of bygone eras return to
Wolfeboro, for our sixth Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat
Regatta. Wolfeboro is now a major
stop on the APBA Vintage Race Boat Circuit, and this
summer's regatta expands to 4 full
days, and will feature over 70 Vintage race boats running
demonstration laps on a 1 mile
oval course, on beautiful Wolfeboro Bay. In addition to
seeing and hearing these unique and
beautiful boats run, spectators are invited to view them
close-up in the pit area, at the Town
Docks on both Friday and Saturday. Wolfeboro is scheduled
for the weekend after Buffalo,
and as many of you know, our Wolfeboro vintage regatta is
held every other year, alternating with Clayton, and we are
becoming well known for our "flat water" and lots of water
time. In fact, we run vintage heats every 20 minutes for two
full days. So if you wanna see lots of vintage race boats
running at speed, you just gotta come to Wolfeboro ???!!!

us plan, or send me an email if you want to come join all
the fun and excitement.
